This phrase is often used in relationships to bait the opposite person (either male or female) to have sex with them or do anything beyond the comfort of the significant other. But is this really love? let's take a look....
First we must establish, what is love? Well, since I am a Christian I am going to use Biblical references but first I will use Merriam-Websters Dictionary
Dictionary
Love (noun) :: strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties
Love (verb) :: : to feel a lover's passion, devotion, or tenderness for
so we see that the dictionary shows that it is a: strong feeling of closeness, romance, and devotion (devoted, to have an unwavering commitment to someone/something)
The Bible
1 Corinthians 13:4-8a "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends."
1 John 3:16 " By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers."
John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends."
Romans 12:9-21 "Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." To the contrary, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. "
Revelation 3:19 "Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent."
So, we see all the attributes of love are:: patience, kindness, humble, graceful, is not cynical but joyful, sacrificial, truthful, enduring, hopeful, continuous, sincere/genuine, justice, physical manifestations must occur (Romans 12:10....telling others, hugs...etc.), lifting each other up with praise and encouragement, not lazy but but forceful (with our love to others, we cannot force another to love us), helping one another with service, blesses each other....even when we are not blessed by them, not conceited or prideful, merciful, peaceful, disciplinary, good to all, romance, devotion, and a strong feeling of closeness.
Now where do we see "giving up your morals" is a form of love. Now, some persistent kids might say "Well, sacrifice is a form of love so you should sacrifice your morals" but what they didn't mention is "justice" is as well. "loving what is good and hating what is evil" so the true love is to NOT have sex until marriage because that is what is "good." So the true love would be sacrifice your horny feelings and wait.
