"Christians are the number 1 cause of Atheists" really?

"Christians are the number 1 cause of Atheists"

I hear this a lot, it is a statement that is usually directed toward Christians who aren't acting Christ-like. I understand it in that sense, but unfortunately it doesn't matter what sense I'm looking as something in, but rather the basis of the statement compared to truth. Now, if we read throughout the Bible, we can clearly see that it is not Christians (which is a New Testament reference to the people of God) are not the cause, but rather it is the unregerate heart of man that does not seek God because they want to stay in their wicked ways and pursue things that benefit them and makes them feel good. Therefore, my conclusion is, Christians are not the number 1 cause of atheists...hearts that are bent on sinning and pursuing a life of sin causes atheists.
